Things aren’t truly working in our favor at the moment! We might have to cut short of some of our scenes due to circumstances, but it might be for the better good!

In Week 9, we received a feedback on our reviewed animatic that the cards room scene was lacking interaction or any kind of immersive user experience. We didn’t know what to do at that point and wished it would be just appreciated for the visuals. In our current status, the cards room still has a lot of fixes and refinements left, its not ready for render. We haven’t started on the the forest or the rollercoaster scenes as well. Its not because we are slacking in any way, but because we have to attend to so many concerns with the render farm for the living room scenes and fix them up before proceeding. These are our priority to deal with obstacles one at a time. But if we were to be mindful with our timeline progress, we are way off our production schedule *sigh*

However, a thought brushed through my mind as we were thinking of solutions for each problem that came our way. What if:

  • We remove the forest scene since it was reviewed as “too long” from the feedback in Week 9 presentation

  • We add the saxophones in the cards room scene at the staircase as sculpture models - it blends well with the theme as its textured as bronze

  • We add the fish swimming inside the gallery that lead the viewer to the end of the hallway where they are showered with cards

  • We break the ground that directly transitions into the teapot of the rollercoaster scene

These, in a way, seem to work better than our original plan. So we decided to pitch this solution and got it approved. Hence we rescoped the project and worked on from there!

From my end, I need to complete the Mad hatter ASAP, set the rollercoaster scene with the lighting and scene asset placements by the end of Week 11 max! With the long weekend break coming next week, I will have to strategize my workflow again.

PERSONAL PROJECT PROGRESS

Moreover, due to all the hassle I wasn’t able to work on my personal projects. I might have to compromise on the VRAY competition even though it is something I really wanted to participate in. For my zbrush sculpt, I wasn’t able to work much on it after receiving feedback in week 8. This has been my progress so far.

Personally, I feel if I still push myself to add the fish in the VRAY competition scene, I will be able to get that done for the group as well. With the videos I researched for the rig of the fish, I might be able to rig it for the scene too! Let’s cross fingers and hope for the best this upcoming week!
