Heading into week 11, we are almost nearing the end of pre-production. It has been a rough journey so far but the outcomes we are working towards have been coming along pretty well. For this week, Amos and I have been working hard on ensuring we get the major assets done and start putting them into the animatic scenes.

Advisory meeting

In our advisory meeting, we were told that our progress has been substantially good. We need to keep this pace up. Amos and I had a meeting soon after the advisor meeting to discuss how to go about the next two weeks. We decided on the following in order to work our way to the finish line.

  1. Amos completes all the remaining assets such as the TVs, radios, streetlights, etc.

  2. Amos will reorganise a fresh new file with the houses and I will work on each shot of the animatic after that.

  3. I will have to work on all the blocking animations for every shot by next week

  4. Amos will work on the sketch art animations for the locked In music video

By splitting the tasks like so, we are dividing the work evenly. Following up with collaborators' work has also been a bit of an issue. So far we only have two collaborators working on two side characters - Fahed working on the teenage girl and Justin working on the boy kid. I requested Fahed if he could work on the young girl since he already has the base mesh ready. Hoping that by next week I could have them ready to work on the animatic.

Animatic Fixes

Moreover, there had been a few issues with the time configuration for each shot. I needed to get the exact timing for each shot so I revisited the 2D animatic and took note of every shot's duration. As cumbersome as it was, it needed to be done. Below is an image on my notes. I converted the time into frames (written in orange). It's been a while since I did some good old maths!

I also updated the shot list with the extra shot we wanted to add in ACT 3.

As animation lead, I got to keep track of the project management sheets I planned out at the start of the trimester such as the Asset list, the shot list, the animation weekly tasks and create a new production schedule for CIU330. We had a group meeting and the end of the week and decided it'll be best to get some work done during the break. SO that has been accounted for in the Trello and I have made a detailed breakdown in a gantt chart. All production schedules are below.

Asset list

New schedule I created (below) because the previous one was messed up due to A LOT of schedule changes. Group friction caused us to revamp our tasks and allocate work differently.

On the other hand, we started up our project instagram account!!! We are set to start posting from next week onwards. I have a couple of posts ready from the animation side. They are as follows.
