Who am I?
Hello! I'm Leighanne Fernandes, an animation student studying at SAE, Dubai. Through my journey from a passionate artist to an aspiring animator to eventually making it big in the industry, follow my thought-process as I document my learning experiences, struggles, views and insight for my industry.
ABOUT ME
As an artist myself, I grew up drawing my thoughts and emotions embedded into portrait sketches, paintings and sculptures. I mainly specialize in imaginative portraits with a touch of realism or semi-realism, however, I am also inspired by contemporary surrealism and hyper-realism.
I completed my GCSE O level course in ART & DESIGN, securing a complete 200/200 in my GCSE coursework and an A* with 97 percent in my final in 2017. From there, I decided to stem into the field of media and entertainment where I am currently doing my Bachelor's Degree in Animation at SAE Institute Dubai.
Concept art, character design and 3D modeling are my 3 areas of focus for the future. During my time at SAE, so far, I have gained studio experience from working on a VR game in STUDIO 1 and a cinematic still-life reel in STUDIO 2, and a VR animation short film.
Apart from art and animation, I also have relative interests in music, dance, writing, filming, editing and photography. I do these hobbies in relation to my artistic knowledge such as filming and editing cinematography for various videos and creating dance covers.
